Australian Catman

The 12c cover price suggests a mid to late 1960s date - so it's interesting that this is a reprint long after the GA has ridden into the sunset. (Cover prices before Feb 1966 were in pennies - hence the 6d, 8d, 9d Australian covers in this thread.)

Here's my Canadian copy of Boy Comics #51.

The normal version says 52 Pages at the top instead of 36. The most obvious of several minor tweaks.

You may notice something odd about the first page:

Yes, it starts on Page 5. In order to trim the book from 52 pages to 36, they simply decided to just cut the whole beginning of the story.

That's not the only corners they cut, though. The first story is in color, but the other two stories... not so much.

And here's the back cover, which advertises an incredible deal: 24 comics for $1. Man, if only I could mail coupons back through time! :ohnoez:

Now, the cover is a reused Number 19, which had a cover price of 1/- .

Normally this would suggest a publishing date of shortly after February 1966.

Normally. This is Oz, however and the chaotic and haphazard publishing schedules make it difficult at times to determine the date of issue. There is no indicia on any of these books, though the back cover ads - especially if a coupon is involved - will sometimes give a clue as to the "nearby" date of printing.

These "Catman's" are great. Not US reprints but all original stories and art by "Air Hawk and the Flying Doctors" writer/artist/creator John Dixon.
