This was one of the last books from Prize/Headline comics as they stumbled and died into the 1960s. This book came out the same month as Flash #110.

 

(I think people don't realize how many comic publishers were still out there in the early 60s. It wasn't just National/Atlas/Charlton/Harvey/Archie...)

 

I like the look of this, as it seems modern, definitely for teens (as opposed to earlier romance books that were geared toward older women).

 

Slight moisture waviness on back cover only, dropping it to VG.

Really nice cover. Super wordy insides. I don't know if Stan was paying by the word, but his writers took full advantage of their typing speed.

 

There's a spine split about a 2 inches above the bottom staple. That drops it down to the GD/VG

Ok, so Archie had romance. And Harvey. Marvel, DC, but not Dell. Never Dell! Well, once the Dell/Western split happened, they did try their hand at romance. It's Private Secretary!

 

It lasted only two issues. The covers were great.

Do you know what I like best about ACGs? Their lettering. It was top notch! A Whitney story and a signed story by John Forte.

Heart Throbs #28 VG++++++ (really!) OPG $20 Your price $14!

 

Quality romance books were, to me, middle of the pack. They employed great artists and solid writers, but they were never that exciting. Like that librarian you had your eye on and thought would be saucy once she put her hair down but ended up just being a nice librarian who visited her grandmother at the nursing home every weekend.

 

This is a super sharp copy that, unfortunately, has some chipping around the edge of the cover. Otherwise it is tight, with great cover gloss. If not for the chipping, it'd be a VF.
