CAF update: classic Kerry Gammill SUPERMAN cover

8 posts in this topic

Hi guys,

Please check my new CAF update,

it's probably the best piece in my gallery yet:

A dream come true (or rather - on the way) :cloud9: -

Two of my favorite creators, together on a classic piece !

As always, comments are welcome and appreciated.

Best,

Gal

p.s: I really liked John Byrne's description of this cover (in his forum):

"Clark Kent got drunk in a graveyard"...

I've added additional images of the published version

and what looks like a recent recoloring or retouching.

Really like the coloring on version B. It seems to bring the art out much better than on version A.

Funny enough, it's actually one of the books I'd missed on.

My first "proper" Superman comic book was a few issues later

with ACTION #656.

I'll try to get a physical copy soon, but since I've never held a copy,

I'm not sure what was the correct color/contrast version.

I've just posted yet another version of the published comic image

I'd found. I assume this is probably the closest to the print.

Thank you all for the kind words and comments. It's nice to see that

Kerry Gammill and Brett Breeding art is getting the recognition and

love it deserves.

That's a fantastic piece - Brett Breeding: Childhood hero before I even knew his name

Same with me. As a kid, it seemed like I tended to pick up

specific SUPERMAN books with a certain "feel" to them.

In retrospect, the "feel" was mostly thanks to Brett Breeding's inking

(over Gammill, McLeod and Jurgens respectively).
