Undertow - Image

That's interesting, IGN gave the first issue a 9.8 out of 10. Multiversity gives it an "8.0 - buy" rating. ComicVine gives it 4 out of 5 stars. NerdsUnchained gives it a 9 out of 10.

That seems pretty favorable to me. It's amazing how many negative reviews are being shared by those that haven't even read the book!

Here's a thought - maybe it'd be a good idea to actually READ the book first before expressing an opinion...?

Here's a thought - maybe I'd find more value in the reviews if there were ever a whiff of a negative review. Not every book is a 9/10 or a 4+ star book.

Anyone read and liked the book?

IGN eh?

Their editor writes a Grimm Fairy tales spinoff...

The bastions of good taste, indeed.

I thought it was rock solid.

Cool concept, muddy art, gorgeous colors...

I'm going to read it tonight so I'll let you know. The reviews have been terribly mixed on this book. They range from 3.5 to 10 out of 10 from the 17 reviews listed here.

Don't know if it makes the book more or less readable, but here's an interview with the creators: http://13thdimension.com/mighty-qa-steve-orlando-goes-for-a-deep-dive-with-images-undertow/

It wasn't a bad book, just not great. It seemed like a poor man's Black Science -- anarchist themes and pseud-science -- set around Atlantean fascism. Just felt a bit, meh.

I don't know what makes Undertow unreadable. I ordered both covers so I guess I had to read it. I liked the preview. But, the artwork...hmm. It's really difficult to follow imo.

Artwork, really does not do a great job of storytelling. Will not continue.

I am joining the chorus of confused readers. I don't think I could tell you one thing about this book after reading it. ???

I believe a small paragraph of setup would have gone a long way - intro some characters - tell us the setting. I do like the covers though.
