Cost to ship a long box?

Anyone know the cost to ship a full long box via USPS? Zone 5 if it matters.

If your post office is going to trip about media mail, ship it fedex. Based on weight, priority will be more expensive. If you can ship it to a commercial address it will cost you less with fedex so shoot for that.

I once shipped a long box via media mail for $26.

Approx $1 per pound Standard

and $.50 per pound media

Keep in mind there is a 70lb limit on package weight with USPS and a full long box can tip over that maximum.

If it's modern comics with the slick paper, it will definitely weigh a lot more than the older comics printed on newsprint.

+1 comics don't qualify for media mail, and the post office will ship it back to you, in particular the Tampa Post Office.

 

Best bet is FedEx, though they may not let you ship a long/shot box by itself. It is against their policy to ship a box that has a lid - they say it can get caught in the sorting machines.

 

I usually ship short boxes, not long boxes though. I pack the short box as normal, buy .99 box from UHaul to put the short box in, then ship it that way.
