Gauging interest in a sketch opp with Jay Anacleto

24 posts in this topic

I have been talking to Jay and his art rep, Jay has agreed to do a limited number of covers if we are interested. Though ill warn everyone they are not cheap.

If we have enough interest we will go live probably on the 9th.

For sketch covers in pencil he charges:

Head $500

Bust (chest up) with no arms or possibly one arm (up to Jay) $700

Torso (waist up) $900

Full Figure no background $1,100

Anyways if anyone is interested post here or PM me. Obviously all funds are not needed up front. A deposit would be needed to make sure you are serious about the spot, the remainder would be paid after Jay is done with them.

Here is some examples of his work.

I am talking with his rep about 11x17 spots but I am not sure if he has any open. Anyone interested in a 11x17 spot can pm me to be on a list.

Again payment can be made in time payments for this opp because of the price point. This is rare and while the prices are high consider that Jay charges $3500 for a 11x17 full figure background.

I love my X-23 and would love to get another cover, but I think my wallet needs to recover first lol

For anyone wondering, the prices are high but that's simply what Jay charges for his work. He's a wonderful artist and gets paid like one. As Doug said, mine was the torso option. I'd only seen 11x17 commissions of his prior to requesting my cover so I wasn't sure if a blank was too small for him to fit a full-figure and maintain all the details in his pencilwork, and I knew I definitely wanted some arms and claws in there, so torso seemed the best option for me. For anyone considering the different options, this is an example of a bust:

And if you're wondering what that ~$3500 gets you, check out this insanity:

Is Jay going to do a con signing this year?

If not, would he'd be open to signing some comics and then having them graded??

Is Jay going to do a con signing this year?

I believe he will be at San Diego Comic Con.

As far as I know these will be ready at SDCC, That means that I can take 10% now to hold it for you and that everyone can make payments up to SDCC or you can pay the final part at SDCC.

I talked to Kirk last night we will have 3-4 spots for pick up at SDCC. These will all be done in stuido and we will go live on the 9th.

Fyi if you want in time payments are fine but I already got 3 pms about people wanting to reserve spots. So be ready to post on the 9th.

If this book had come out in 2012 it would be $800 in 9.8. As it is, they are in dollar bins, but you should check them out for the amazing art.

Kudos Doug, for getting a genius' work out there.

Your first job is to find JJ and myself matching Rascals. Second job is to find a monocle for me to go with my pimp cane that JJ is bringing for me.
