ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY'S COMIC SECTION DEBUTS FEBRUARY 14th

by Newsarama's Matt Brady - www.newsarama.com

February 10, 2003

After a few years of planning and prepping, Entertainment Weekly's Comic Book section will debut in the February 17th issue, slated to hit newsstands this Friday. Timed to coincide with the release of Daredevil, the section will cover a fairly diverse range of comics, from Hellboy to Orbiter.

For the industry, the section marks the one of the first times a consumer magazine has devoted pages to comics. An estimate of Entertainment Weekly's average issue circulation places it just over 1.5 million copies.

Thank God!! This is such great news for the industry! I know of so many people who don't collect comics that get EW and this is such great press for us. Hopefully stir some interest not only towards the current issues and TPBs, but also for some back issues.

I don't know, people might get confused if you roll out a 100 sided dice out of your closet! tongue.gif If you mention a silver dragon, make sure to tell them it's not made of pewter. tongue.gif When they've learned the 2nd Edition rules, tell them about the 3rd Editon rules! laugh.gif Finally, once they think they've come to greater understanding of AD&D, introduce them to DragonLance and Forgotten Relms. wink.gif

This is really great news and I hope it's wildly successful and brings billions of new readers and collectors into the hobby.

Having said that, I give it until the Hulk movie comes out before it fades away. If not sooner.

Yeah, wear your brand-new Incredible Hulk t-shirt complete with glitter and puffy paint to the club and just watch the ladies come a'runnin'!

(And yes, someone actually gave me a shirt like that for Christmas. I never have figured out why my aunt hates me so much...)

Riiiiight....tell that to all of your bar hoochies and see how many numbers you get, bro

you guys really think that collecting comic books is the only reason holding you back from getting digits? i do tell people/hotties i collect and sell comic books, if they don't like it, to hell with them! im sure there are things they do that i don't like. everybody knows i collect comic books at the bar, i even showed some custy's the CGC pamphlet, im sure it didn't stir an ounce of interest, but i have told and showed them. wink.gifgrin.gif

Amen Pimp. I'm going to quote myself from my "inner circle" thread because I like hearing myself......um.......reading myself speak. tongue.gif

I don't care. If I'm dating someone, they would know that I have a lot of interests that involve both athletic and intellectual skills, so if they don't like that I collect comics, they can go F%$K themselves.

Trust me, any girl that I've told has either not cared, or though it was interesting. If a girl LIKES you, a hobby would not change their opinion(unless your a hardcore porn collector, or a peeping tom grin.gif ). But if they're looking for reasons NOT to like you, they will use comics. And if that's the case, there's probably another problem.

ummm...other than I'm already married...yes. Actually it could be more detrimental to fostering a relationship than helping it. - Oprah

Here's where I disagree AK...I was actually known for my diverse and sizable collection of works from "the other movie industry". Watching porn can be at least educational so women can feel confident that you know your way around the bedroom...peeping tom - I can't vouch for...talk to greggy about this...um, nope, scratch that - obviously this method doesn't work wink.gif

Depends on the girl, I guess. Most girls I know don't have a problem with watching porn........but a collector? A little creepy no?
