Picked this up at an auction with a bunch of comics years ago.

Is it considered a KEY ISSUE?

In that range, there are several issues which, without being major keys, are all important.

 

Besides #47, also #43 (first Guardsman) and #45-46 (dramatic storyline involving youth protests, where the Guardsman dies – unwillingly – at the hands of Iron Man).

I believe that is the origin issue with Barry Smith art. While not a true key, it is an issue of interest as far as Ironman goes.

The definition of key varies from collector to collector.

 

But there are only 5 copies of this issue in CGC 9.8.

Sometimes hard to find issue, and tough in high grade. I spent 6 months (three years ago) chasing one. Now I have five. I call it a minor key for sure.

Key, no, but I do consider it one of my favorite Picture Frame books and it does have higher demand than surrounding issues.
