PGM: HULK #181

Another book I've owned for 25+ years. The condition it's in is exactly as I acquired it back then.

 

Things to note:

 

-Ink on cover filling in claws.

-Staples intact, original or not?

-Extra staple holes, why?

-Marvel Value Stamp page is missing :(

 

I'd appreciate opinions of the grade and suggestions on what to do with the book. Should it be left as-is or is it restorable? Is it slab worthy?

 

I have a note on the back of the board showing I only paid $5 for it, good thing I guess ...

- Bummer about the claws.

- Staples are original.

- Looks like it was stapled to something, maybe a bulletin board?

- The whole page was torn out - Yikes!

 

- No IH 181 is worth restoring - leave as is.

- All IH 181s are slab-worthy. :sumo:

I'm guessing it could get a 6.0 Green Label (incomplete), maybe even higher. Even with the staple holes and torn-out page, it's still a very presentable copy. No chance of a blue label however, not with the missing page.

Wow, that's a tough one. Definitely a Green Label. I'm guessing 4.5. Looks a bit better, but CGC can be harsh.

 

I'm always surprised how they can hammer a book 2-3 grades for staining and almost shrug off ink, but I still say it'd be a 4.5-5.0.

I'm a little tougher on this one. Green label 3.5 or 4.0. Without the staple holes and the graffiti, probably a 6.0 or 6.5. I'd have to think that those very noticeable flaws would bring down the grade at least a couple points.

I really can't see CGC being as hash on this book as some of the other boardies are suggesting. The overall appearance is no where near some of the grades mentioned.

 

And wouldn't you know it, I agree with divad for a change! :baiting:
