George RR Martin wrote Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963

Obviously Stan Lee gave George the idea to write a song of ice and fire even though he is not credited (he probably wrote it 63 as well).

lol

I heard Stan Lee also created Game of Thrones so he can now sign those books as well

What did he NOT create? :o

Wow! Imagine if George RR Martin ever decided to write the Fantastic Four now?

Maybe, that`s what the Fantastic Four would need for their upcoming reboot?

He has books to write. No time to write comic books and/or movies.

Don't give him another hobby...the man won't survive to finish his books at this rate. Too many conventions, too many subpar writing gigs, too many trips to find more medieval figures for his collection.

Yep. There is genuine worry the show will outpace the books.

so this is a guy who turned his uber-nerdiness and utter joy of being a geek into millions. hundreds of millions? g-d bless him. i wish i had the talent.

i am concerned that he apparently still writes everything on a DOS machine running wordstar 4.0. seriously, when did wordstar go out of business, 1986?

i also find this fascinating:

"George is also a fan of the New York Giants and the New York Jets, and had also stated that he based some of the Game of Thrones villains on the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots."

I will assume the Patriots villians must be in the later books. Phil Simms is Ned Stark? Troy Aikman is Jamie Lanaster? Bill Belichek is Lord Bolton?

i am torn about reading the books now that i am absolutely addicted to the show, but i would like to know some of the back story that is being left out of the show. it's weird reading a book when you kind of know what is going to happen more or less, i don't know if i can do it for 1500 pages X 3 or 4.
