A question to WA state boardies about August this summer...

10 posts in this topic

As the subject above said - I got a question for you boardies in WA state.

Will Seattle host a comic con show in August? To be exact - August 10th / 11st weekend. I'm going to drive to Seattle on Tuesday evening to drop off a friend at the airport there and pick up again on Sunday evening.

So, I thought I should find out if there'll be a local comic con show in Seattle - if any of you know? If no shows, then what comic book store would you suggest as a good spot to browse around?

Thanks (thumbs u

Looks like you're out of luck. The Bellingham show is in October and Jet City is in November. Jet City used to be in the summer but seems like they moved it.

+1. Unfortunately, nothing happens show wise in this state in August.

I'm in Seattle at the end of August (assuming we can scrap up the coin to go... my wife's job pays for her, but not for us)

Probably won't be much time for comic book hunting though with the kids in tow and my wife abandoning me during the day to attend a conference up there for 4 days.

Actually, any decent comic shop near U. Wash? I think we're going to be around there a bit for the conference. I always figure college shops are a big rip off and don't have decent vintage stuff, but whatever.

I've found a few gems at Comic Dungeon, but they are hit or miss.

No trip to Seattle is complete without the Pike Market...and America's oldest comic shop.

Agreed on this - went here when I visited my son this spring, fun place to walk around in, if nothing else (both the Market and Golden Age Collectables).

If you are looking for a good selection of SA and GA keys, I would recommend Amazing Heroes in Kirkland. It is right next to Bel-Stamp, which was mentioned above. The owner, Tyson, has all the SA keys and some good GA books. He also carries a lot of collectable toys. Here is the link to the website:

Hmm... I might have to plot a route south to visit this store on Sunday, before I pick up my friend at Sea-Tac airport. That would be highway 405, not I-5. With one another store near Amazing Heroes - good time to hit this as well. Maybe Golden Age store first at Pike Market? hm

Looks like I have all day on Sunday to have fun there. :insane:
