The Wide Wide World of Poor

70 posts in this topic

It does illustrate the difference between a copy that probably shouldn't even qualify as Poor (0.0 maybe?), and a book that is incomplete. Qualifed grades are probably a better reflection of grade for inc. books - especially if it's a missing centerfold, as the rest of the book can look anything from NM to FR and still get a .5 Universal.

This is a perfect example of what bugs me about the current CGC grading system.

Even if this book did not have a spot of colour touch, it would still grade out to only a 0.5 blue label which as we can all clearly see is totally and visibily different from your usual POS 0.5 book.

In this situation, would a qualified Green label at 8.0 or above for the exact same book carry more valuation in the marketplace as opposed to a 0.5 blue label?

I know that you are supposed to buy the book and not the label, but the marketplace as currently structured is still heavily influenced by the colour of the label.
