If you want to make space at your home

I could take that Marvel Spotlight CGC 9.8 SS from your hands...

You know,

friends helping friends....[/font]

You don't want that, it's got OW/W pages.

[font:Book Antiqua]As long as I help a friend I could live with that...

What would be a good first step when a collection has just grown too wild and unfocused. Mainly, with moderns or cheap books no one really wants. lol

I have two friends with young boys who would die for a stack of Caps, Thors, Iron mans, or Avengers. They read all of the other junk I give them too lol

Where do you live?

Every year at Christmas the LCS does a drive for the shelter, they give comics to kids at Christmas along with their basket of goodies, the kids love it! I give a coupe thousand every year of the stuff I don't want anymore.

Dang Hado, I have an even worse problem than you, as here very few people collect books in original edition.

I have certain things which would easily sell there (i.e. the Carl Barks library in album format, lots of decent 1990s trek, some nice TPBs) that I can’t simply give away, not even gifted, because people want comics "written in italian"…

:tonofbricks:

Ah, your new avatar is… "Hado knows his stuff".

I work in education and there is always a local school that will accept a donation. You have to be careful with content. Big guns and scantily clad female covers are usually a bad idea. I have donated to a grammar school, middle school and two libraries.

The middle school has a cool program where kids good behavior is rewarded with school bucks which can be used to buy the comics. My last donation of 300 comics and graphic novels lasted about 2 months in their school store. Considering they can only go once a week and they have other choices to spend their bucks on that was pretty quick.

With so few comic shops around anymore, it also feels good to put comics in kid's hands and share the hobby.

If you are well off with/without them: donate to a Childrens hospital  or give some to the mail carrier, your garbage collector, or someone less thought of that deserves a good read

If you really want to recoup funding: make grab bags or like others stated garage sale/swap meet.

If you want to be practical: use them as padding protection when shipping other comics out.

If you want to have some fun: dissect characters and use them for your child's diorrama project, make a collage of random character battles, create a bathroom deuce reading nook
