I am thinking Starfox. Will tie in the Thanos connection.

It would be funny if it was the watcher.

His new motto:

"Sometimes we do more than watch."

 

At some point they will have to introduce the watcher. Especially if the bring up any more celestial beings with Dr Strange etc....Eternity would be awesome on screen...

I think Starfox would make sense, too. It would explain Starlord's magical pelvis (or whatever the line is in the film), and would make Thanos his uncle.

My guess would have been The Stranger. since he possesses one of the gems in the comics originally, but I like the Mentor hypothesis even better. Making him Thanos' brother would only be a minor deviation.
