Books Arrived from ECCC

No peeking...

Here we go again, no peaking and revealing to you as I open the box! These are the last few books I submitted at Emerald City Comic Con this year in Seattle...so sad there are no more coming from that show...until hopefully next year. I had to get these pressed at CCS...I picked them up at the show so there wasn't time to let Ronnylama work his magic on them. Let's see how they turned out.

This is like opening birthday presents, so excited. Box is opened and first book turned over is...Special Marvel Edition 15. This is the first appearance of Shang Chi, Master of Kung Fu. My friend LeeK handed me this book and said it was time for someone else to appreciate this beauty. It was a PGX 9.0 copy and I was ecstatic...it is now a CGC 9.4 copy with White Pages. How crazy cool is that. Thank you again Lee. Ive since picked up a few issues from this series for reading and theyre a lot fun. I would love to see this character featured in a Marvel movie.

Time for the second book...Xmen 121. This is the first full appearance of Alpha Flight. I found this book in an obscure little dealer booth hidden between larger booths full of toys and tshirts and other random stuff. Super nice lady and her son ran the booth, which was like 5 foot by foot, but big enough to hold several rows of comic boxes and a small display stand on which I saw this book. It was a PGX 9.4 copy and I got an amazing deal on it...it is now a CGC 9.6 copy with White Pages. SO happy.

OK, last one...Daredevil 159. This is the second Frank Miller work on the title and features an appearance by Bullseye...not to mention the secrets of Daredevil's billy club are revealed. I picked up this one up at the aforementioned little comic booth as well. I ran across it while flipping through the boxes of raw books and thought it looked like a 9.2 so for the low price I jumped on it. I am pleased to see that it exceeded my expectations...it is now a CGC 9.4 copy with White Pages.

All in all I am extremely satisfied with the work done by CCS and the grades received from CGC...in the end it was worth the money spent and the 4 month wait. Ive got a few other books ready to submit, but its going to be awhile...this hobby is expensive. In the meantime I look forward to reading the acquisitions of others while I await my final CGC invoice.

Til next time...

Fantastic! Very nice results!

I too had a raw Special Marvel Edition 15 grade at 9.4 in the last year, and I love mine! I'm sure you're very happy as well.

I wish my OCC of Daredevil 159 had been as good as your copy there. But alas, not even close.

I like how you let us learn about them as you do. Congrats on those beautiful finds and grades!

Hi and yes those are nice books but I am new to CGC and I think i am missing something ??, after reading this post I searched the E-bay completed listings and a daredevil 159 in 9.4 didn't sell for all that very much ($85.00) and then I checked the census and there was over 180 issue graded at 9.4 and above , how much did you pay to get this comic pressed and graded? please tell me more of the mindset-thanks

Very Nice books. I have two more single book invoices. One is a fast track going the slow route. The other I may very well not look at. I might wait (haha) until I too have it in my hands. I wonder what that feeling is like that you have so much control of, oh hes I shall wait...yea right.

As far as the grade, I am sure a 9.8 would have made my friend even more ecstatic, but I think Surfer99 was just glad to get a book he desired raw, and press it for his own collection. I recently received a 9.4 on one of my submissions and I was overjoyed.
