WOW, that sucks... That's a beautiful book...I wonder how competent security is there and if they can track it back to a badge... It's such a crapshoot... It's such a pretty book. No real distinguishing characteristics beyond a couple of minor color breaks.

This is why small neat date stamps on old expensive books rule.

It looks nice... 6ish?

Need bigger scans to grade it but it looks like 8 range to me.

Yeah, I also don't have view here. But from what I can see it looks like a nice 8.0, if not for the top.. something bad seems to be going on along the entire top. I don't think its water damage (oO)...? I can't tell from these pics.

I think if I was still doing shows I would incorporate one of the many RFID tag alarm systems for my higher end inventory.

You can adjust the distance for the alarm to activate. You sell a book, remove the tag and use it for another.

This is a pretty cool idea...

Does insurance cover convention theft?

If you're insured it does but then you also need to worry about rising premiums and even worse, too many claims and you might get dropped.

You can see the Xmen 1 here on Saturday morning, perhaps at a little too convenient level for a thief. Ted invites people he knows into his booth, maybe this will change.

I hope he does let his known customers into his booth even after this unfortunate incident. I will understand if he is hesitant, but I love getting a close look at his wall and chatting about books.

It's reaching the point where a third set of eyes is mandatory at a booth specifically for loss prevention.

Crazy. Ted travels the country without issue and then set's up in his own backyard and is robbed.

When I set up, I have color photocopies of my best book(s) wrapped around another cheap comic. They look real unless you study it. Then I leave them in the most vulnerable location. If someone is going to steal one, they'll steal the decoy.

But if someone wants to look at it for a purchase, I can show them the real one hidden away elsewhere.
