How do guys find out what to pay for rare comic book covers?

So what I was saying is:

In the example above GA Green Lantern #1 coverless looks to be about a $400 book and a lower grade restored copy (1.8/2.0) is about a $1000 book. That would mean the cover is worth around $600 or so. My thinking is that you could marry the cover to a coverless copy and get around the value of a restored lower grade copy.

EDIT: Of course if the cover was really nice you might get more for the married copy.

There are more coverless Action #1 than Action #1 covers so the covers I believe are worth more. Because you can have a shotgun wedding and make a complete book. I wouldnt try to remove staples and re attach though I'd just keep it as a detached cover.
