Iconic cover recreation or full figure sketch?

8 posts in this topic

I like getting a reimagining of an iconic cover (like Spidey 121 or 122). Those are some of my favorite pieces.

I also like giving an artist an idea but full license to do their own thing within the general idea - I prefer full figure, color, with background - and sometimes they do something that just blows you away. But, sometimes you also get a dud.

The only cover recreations that I have commissioned are getting Clayton Crain to do an acrylic painted version of his own original digital covers. I did get Anthony Castrillo to do an X-Men 1 cover recreation on a Troy cover on a coverless copy of the original X-Men 1.

I also traded for an X-Men 101 cover recreation by Chris Mangold because he is really really good and I love that cover.
