CAF update: Jurgens & Ordway - SUPERMAN SF Dark Knight Over Metropolis epilogue

1 post in this topic

Hi guys,

This will be my last CAF update for a while...

While I've been trying to "upgrade" my collection and focus mainly

on covers and pinups I almost stopped chasing interior art.

However, in this art form, the true magic lies in the sequential storytelling

and the perfect combination between written words and illustrated images.

So now interiors are back with a vengeance:

This nice two page scene really grabbed me years ago, when I originally bought

this SECRET FILES issue.

Story wise, it concluded yet another retelling of Superman's origin,

but this time with a twist - as revealed here, the entire overview of Superman's career

was actually told from Batman's POV, who was trying to figure out why he

and Superman seemed so different.

The scene also serves as an epilogue to the overreaching Superman/Batman

post-crisis rivalry arc which was mainly told in the Dark Knight Over Metropolis.

This 'happy ending' renewed the friendship between the two and made me smile.

On the art front, I couldn't ask for a better art team to handle the World's Finest;

Jerry Ordway brought a darker edge to Dan Jurgens pencils, very fitting to the

subject matter. The expressions as well as the textures they put on paper are

truly amazing to behold !

Please take a look at the 'additional images' for some closeups, and please see

my other post for the previous page.

As always, comments are welcome and appreciated !

Thanks,

Gal
