But I'd wager without lookinig at the list that Get Out was the most profitable blockbuster last year. $176 million domestic gross on a reported $4.5 million budget. Oh - and it one an Oscar for Best Screenplay and nominations for Best Director, Actor, and Picture. And for those who claim "it wasn't a blockbuster," recall that $176 million domestic is more than 75% of Justice League's $229 million domestic total. That may be all well and good, but it is interesting to see now that the MCU is having to invest more into these movies to push the envelope even beyond where it took things a few years back, it is cutting into profitability. No. 8 ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Box Office Profits – 2017 Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament Quote Thor: Ragnarok reaped more in profit than Thor: Dark World, $174.2M to $139.4M. This despite the rise in production costs from $170M to $180M, and participation that grew from an estimated $12M to $50M. No. 9 ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’ Box Office Profits – 2017 Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament Quote Despite making more money at the box office than the first GOTG, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 generates a slightly smaller profit at $154.7M than its first chapter’s $204.2M. The solid thing with the MCU is none of these have bombed in a long time. So it may be smaller profits. But it is also steady profits. I'll be surprised if Logan doesn't show up in the Top 5 as a low-budget success. And let's not forget LEGO Batman. $311.95M worldwide on an $80M budget. Have to remember, These are all 2017 movies. Huh. I didn't expect that. Though its cash return ratio is higher than others. It looks like the Print & Advertising Budget is what pulled from the final results. No. 10 ‘Get Out’ Quote Get Out generated an enormous profit of $124.8M, a figure that’s bigger than the profitable returns of other recent low-budget horror movies like The Conjuring 2 ($98.3M) and Purge: Election Year ($44.6M) in previous tournaments. Much of this has to do with the pic maintaining a low bottom line. Universal didn’t cheap out on selling the movie with $77M in global P&A, which includes an awards push over the last five months. Deadline did its analysis using the original details published, most probably ignoring the announcement from Disney two months prior. Disney Reveals Guardians Of The Galaxy Was Over Budget At $232 Million I realize that is a challenge for some to accept. Life will go on. Even when you attempt to make someone out to be dishonest due to disagreeing with facts.
