The most lurid pre-code horror cover?

A full run of Weird Mysteries is tough to fill.... In the next couple of years, I'd like to have a complete run in about VG (since I won't be buying a #5 in higher grade than the VG I have now, and would like the whole run to be similar). I have three of the toughest issues: #2, #5 and #6, but the #4 (skull with human-headed ant) is probably second or third in value behind the #5, and that's next on my list.

Basically, if you set a goal to do the Weird Mysteries run in a certain grade, gauge that grade by how much you are willing to spend on #5. That book in VG sells for $500-$700, and in F probably in the $1000 - $1200 range.

WARNING: The Surgeon General has determined that owning a complete run of WEIRD MYSTERIES is hazardous to your health. Complications such as dementia and extreme psychosis are likely to result from use of this product. wink.gif

Well, there you have it! Since I am already clinically insane and no further harm can befall me, I'll be a good samaratin and gladly take issues 2, 4, 5, 7, and 10 off some poor soul's hands...... grin.gif

This one is pretty lurid. Although the title indicated it's a romance book it's definately crossover with horror.

That's not a real Golden Age book, is it? I know they were pushing the envelope when it came to violent subject matter and imagery, but THAT'S beyond all decorum...

Hey FF, did you know that "gullible" really isn't a word? It's true! Go ahead and look it up!

I'm having a hard time picking only one.... but these would be my candidates:

Mister Mystery #12

Mister Mystery #18 (someone else's copy shown on the first page of this thread)

Weird Mysteries #5 (my copy shown below)

Weird Mysteries #6 (my copy shown below)

Out of the Shadows #8

Tomb of Terror #15 (my copy shown below)

Black Cat Mystery #50 (my copy shown below)

Fight Against Crime #20

Crime Suspenstories #22

I might go for Weird Mysteries #5 simply because of the removed internal organs... but then again, is anything as unsettling as Mister Mystery #12?

actually the "zombie love" is not a real comic. If you look at the bottom of the pic, it's from

http://www.somethingawful.com

It's a website for amatuer and proffessional Photo-Shop junkies to hang. It's more than likely from a comedy goldmine (tuesdays) or fotoshop phriday (friday)

I know this because I am a member. trust me, I don't think that is a real title. If you think about it, where in the late 40's to mid 5-'s could you find a comic with that kind of graphic porn-esque language.
