SUPERGIRL official TV show thread

To me it feels like the entire Arrowverse is getting a big long in the tooth.  All the shows are now heading into the 5th season or more, except for the just announced Batwoman.  I have a feeling it is not just nearing the end of the road for Supergirl,  but maybe the entire thing.  Unless two or three new series catch on in the next 2 years, I think it will be over.

I don't see where the Arrowverse can go with Arrow coming to an end. Flashverse? I still like Flash & LoT but honestly found Doom Patrol more interesting than most of the Arrowverse this season. I just hope Swamp Thing is as interesting.

I think the long seasons of regular TV show cycles is too much for the CW Arrowverse. It burns you out when each show drags on about the same dang main villain, even when they periodically drop in a distractor.

Cicada should have had like max 4 episodes before the Flash team figured out his game and took him down. 22 episodes of 'GRACE, I'LL DESTROY THEM ALL' was 18 episodes too many.

If they insist on staying with traditional 22 episode seasons, they should consider 1/2 season arcs.  Supergirl kinda did that this season when they brought Lex into the mix late in the season and it really gave the show a kick in the pants.

I have to agree, with Supergirl it definitely changed up the pace of the show. And then later making both Lex and Agent Liberty as a split focus helped.

Is it just me or has this show become unwatchable along the lines of The Flash?

The characters for the most part have become cardboard and Brainy is just flat out ridiculous.

What started with so much promise (like The Flash) has fallen down. I hope this show can get up again.

“Supergirl” is officially hanging up her cape.

In a joint decision, the CW and producers Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions have announced that the upcoming sixth season of “Supergirl” will be its last.

Production on the “Supergirl” curtain call is set to begin later this month, and the writers have already started developing storylines for the final 20 episodes, according to sources. The network is aiming to premiere the sixth and final season sometime in 2021.

News of “Supergirl”‘s demise also comes almost exactly four months after the season 5 finale. The series originally debuted on CBS back in Oct. 2015, before moving to CW from season 2 onward.

The most recent season continued to star Melissa Benoist as the titular heroine, who also happens to be Superman’s cousin. Late last year, Benoist revealed in an emotional Instagram video that she was a “survivor of domestic violence” and was previously in a longterm abusive relationship, which she says had impacts on her work.

The CW is kicking February off with a blizzard (ha!) of renewals, picking up additional seasons of a dozen current series — including breakout hit Walker.

In addition to the aforementioned Jared Padalecki-fronted reboot, the list of shows confirmed to return for the 2021-22 TV season includes:

  • The Flash (Season 8)
  • Riverdale (Season 6)
  • DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (Season 7)
  • All American (Season 4)
  • Charmed (Season 4)
  • Legacies (Season 4)
  • In the Dark (Season 4)
  • Roswell, New Mexico (Season 4)
  • Batwoman (Season 3)
  • Nancy Drew (Season 3)
  • Dynasty (Season 5)

As previously reported, the soon-to-launch new seasons of Supergirl and Black Lightning will be both series last.

Additionally, Superman & Lois  — which is set to bow on Feb. 23 — has received an order for two additional episodes, bringing its Season 1 total to 15. (A Season 2 pickup for S&L is TBD.) Meanwhile, The CW is expanding Walker‘s inaugural season by 5 episodes, for a grand total of 18.

“Though we’re just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals, which allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season,” said CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz in a statement. “As The CW’s 2020-2021 season kicks into high gear, we are thrilled creatively with the direction of our first new shows out of the gate, Walker and Superman & Lois, that we wanted to order the additional episodes to complete their first seasons, and we are particularly pleased with the huge success of the launch of Walker, which debuted as our most watched series premiere in 5 years.”
