#2 Casper the Friendly Ghost Registry Set in Pedigree’s January Harvey Auction!

Our upcoming Grand Auction will feature what is considered to be the world’s #1 CGC graded collection of Harvey Comics. The auction is Scheduled to begin in just over three (3) weeks on the night of Monday, January 26th and last for ten (10) days until the night of Thursday, February 5th as a separate event on the Pedigree Comics website (www.PedigreeComics.com). The first half of lots will end on the night of Wednesday, February 4th and the remaining half will end on the 5th. There is no Buyers Premium on any of the lots in the auction and every item will have no reserve. Every book is CGC graded and there is no minimum bid for this special Harvey Comics Auction. Each week prior to the auction, Pedigree’s CEO and President, Doug Schmell, who obtained this massive collection of over 800 CGC graded books on consignment, will spotlight an important run from the collection. This week’s focus is on Casper the Friendly Ghost. This is one of the most popular and recognizable of all the Harvey titles and actually started as a St. John Publishing title in September, 1949, lasting 5 issues. Harvey Comics Hits #61 is considered the 6th issue and then the numbering continues with #7 (under the Harvey Publications banner) in December, 1952. This is the world’s #2 CGC Registry Set and that is with only 20% of the issues included. There are a few very tough to find issues in the set and many of the books are Harvey Publications File Copies. Overall, Casper the Friendly Ghost is the hardest set to put together as many of the earliest issues were not part of the publishers files and are next to impossible to locate in any grade.
