Captain America #196 Page #7 by Jack Kirby

 

This page from the American bicentennial year issue (April,1976) of Captain America features Sam Wilson, The Falcon along with Captain America in this well balanced 6 paneled page of sequential art as part of the epic "Madbomb" storyline (Issues #193-200). Captain America appears in all 6 panels and Falcon is in 5 of the 6 with Captain America. This issue was by written and penciled by Jack Kirby with inks by D. Bruce Berry

 

Jack Kirby created Captain America in 1941. It's always extra special to own artwork of a character rendered by the creator of that character.

 

The Falcon, created in 1969 was comic books first mainstream African American super-hero.

 

The Falcon (Sam Wilson) replaced Steve Rogers as Captain America in "All New Captain America #1" in the fall of 2014, and also appeared in the 2014 blockbuster Marvel movie "Captain America : The Winter Soldier" portrayed by Anthony Mackie along side Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America).

 

 

Uncanny X-Men #511 Page #20 by Greg Land

 

This is a 3/4 splash page from 2009 features the return of the ever popular X-Men member, Psylocke (Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock), and is the conclusion (Part IV) of the "Sisterhood" storyline, returning to her Japanese body, her original body brought back to life.

 

This is an iconic image of Psylocke by Greg Land recently used for the 2014 Rittenhouse trading card set "Marvel's Dangerous Divas Series 2" as the rare limited edition 75th Anniversary gold card #6.

 

The issue was written by Matt Fraction with artwork by Greg Land and inks by Jay Leisten.

 

 

Batman Dark Victory #1 Page #6 by Tim Sale

 

Batman: Dark Victory was a 14 issue series by writer Jeph Loeb and artist, Tim Sale published from 1999-2000, and is the sequel to Batman : Long Halloween

 

This beautiful page features Selina Kyle (Catwoman) in a fill figure 1/3 splash page that also contains a silhouette of Batman in the last panel.

 

Tim Sale is one of the most popular artists of this generation, with his fame and notoriety being recognized by the mainstream during his work on the NBC television series "Heroes"

 

 

X-Men The Hidden Years #5 Page #6 by John Byrne

 

X-Men: The Hidden Years takes place between the story-lines of X-Men #66 (1970) and Giant Size X-Men #1 (1975) with the original team's last adventures together before the All New All Different team emerged.

 

This story, "Riders on the Storm" was published in April 2000 and features the all-time greatest mutant villain (and sometimes super-hero), Magneto in a 1/4 splash page panel along with most of the X-Men team throughout the page.

 

To add to the nostalgic aesthetics, inker, Tom Palmer who worked with Neal Adams in the storylines preceding this release, teams up with legendary X-Men artist, John Byrne.

 

John Byrne not only illustrated the book, but also wrote the story. It goes without saying, Byrne's work on The Uncanny X-Men is amongst the most popular and highly collected comic art of any era, most of whose pages are out of the price range of most fans and collectors valued at tens of thousands of dollars. To own an X-Men page, any published original art is highly desirable, and this is a great opportunity to obtain such a gem.

 

 

Ambush Bug Stocking Stuffer #1 Page #45 by Keith Giffen

 

This is the ever so cleaver Ambush Bug Stocking Stuffer from 1986. Ambush Bug was created by Keith Giffen for DC Comics.

 

This story was written by Robert Loren Fleming, penciled by Keith Giffen and inked by Bob Oksner.

 

This is a 3/4 splash page featuring Batman's arch nemesis, The Joker calling out Ambush Bug with hilarious reference to the 1960's Batman television series at the bottom

 

Keith Giffen was one of the most popular artists of the Copper Age, known best for his work with DC Comics on Dr Fate and The Legion of Super Heroes.

 

 

Gen 13 #13-B Page #25 by J. Scott Campbell

 

This is from Gen 13 (Vol. 2) Issue #13-B written by Jim Lee, Brandon Choi and J. Scott Campbell with artwork by J. Scott Campbell, published October 1996.

 

This was part of a crossover issue featuring characters from The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Bone, Savage Dragon Madman, Beanworld, Star Trek as well as Todd McFarlane's Spawn amongst other characters in a 3 part storyline.

 

This page #25 features Gen 13's Grunge meeting Spawn, in a 3 panel 1/3 splash page beautifully illustrated by J. Scott Campbell.

 

Artwork featuring Spawn (Al Simmons) is rare, and this was published around the same time as Spawn #54 was released.

 

J. Scott Campbell co-created Gen 13 with Jim Lee, who was a co-writer of this issue and page, so this is a rare collaboration by two of comics all time greats, Jim Lee and J. Scott Campbell.

 

J. Scott Campbell is also known for his work on Danger Girl and the numerous covers he's illustrated for Marvel Comics.

 

 

Spider-Man / Red Sonja #4 Page #13 and Page #14 by Mel Rubi DOUBLE PAGE SPLASH

 

In 2007, Marvel and Dynamite Comics embarked on a joint venture crossover project teaming up Spider-Man with The Red Sonja. Back in the 1970's Marvel owned the rights to The Red Sonja character and she even teamed up with Spider-Man in Marvel Team-Up #79. Over 25 years later, the two characters reunited with this 5 issue mini-series.

 

This is a Double Page Splash from Issue #4 written by Michael Avon Oeming and penciled by Mel Rubi. This is an epic DPS featuring Mary Jane Watson - Parker, the wife of Spider-Man in a full figure pose surrounded by key memories of her relationship with Peter Parker, The Amazing Spider-Man. Included is that key scene from the Spider-Man movie with Spider-Man partially unmasked kissing Mary Jane upside down in the rain. There's also a recreation of The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21 cover featuring their wedding.

 

 

Superman / Batman #19 Page #15 by Ian Churchill

 

This is such a remarkable story entitled "The New Adventures of Supergirl, the Girl of Steel", it was first published in Superman / Batman #19 (May 2005) it was then reprinted and used to launch the new Supergirl series (Vol. 5) issue #0 (October 2005).

 

This was written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by penciler Ian Churchill, inked by Norm Rapmund. This is hand signed, autographed by Norm Rapmund at the bottom of this page.

 

Page #15 features a battle between Supergirl and Harley Quinn, with Harley first getting the better of Supergirl with her giant mallet, only to be defeated in a humorous ending by Supergirl within this beautiful stand alone action packed sequential page.

 

With Harley Quinn emerging as DC's most popular character, and also to appear in the Suicide Squad movie portrayed by actress Margot Robbie and CBS committing to developing a Supergirl television series, this page is sure to be a fan favorite.

 

 

Witchblade Annual #1 Page #1 by Eric "EBAS" Basaldua SPLASH PAGE

 

Eric Basaldua, also known simply as EBAS is one of comics hottest rising star talents, best known for his renderings of pin-up girls, this is a full cover quality splash page from Top Cow's Witchblade Annual #1 published April 2009.

 

This splash page features Carrie Mozer in her very 1st appearance along with Sara Pezzini (The Witchblade)

 

This page was penciled by EBAS and inked by his brother, Rick Basaldua, so if a family collaboration. It is hand signed, autographed on the top of the page by Eric Basaldua.

 

 

New Avengers #7 Page #18 by Steve McNiven

 

New Avenges (Vol 1) #7 is a key issue that introduced The Illuminati to the Marvel Universe, published July 2005.

 

This page features Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) and The Wrecker, who manhandles Wolverine during battle.

 

The story was written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by penciler, Steve McNiven, inked by Mark Morales.

 

Steve McNiven has fastly become one of the quintessential artists associated with Wolverine, having illustrated both "Old Man Logan" (2008-2009) and most recently "The Death of Wolverine (2014), and this page, which features Wolverine pre-dates both storylines and publications.

 

 

X-Men and the Micronauts #2 Page #25 by Jackson 'Butch" Guice

 

This was the beginning of the Copper Age, published February 1984 and is a crossover team up between Marvel's X-MEN and Mego Toy's Micronauts.

 

This as a 4 issue limited series written by Chris Claremont and Bill Mantlo and illustrated by Jackson Guide (often credited and referred to as Butch Guice early in his comic book career), who is best known for his remarkable run as one of the most popular artists on The Micronauts (#48-58) series.

 

This page includes a nice large 1/3 splash page of the X-Nauts VS The Micro-Men which is featured on the cover of this issue. Interestingly, when the Micronauts were created in Japan in 1974 they were named Microman before Mego renamed them Micronauts in 1976.

 

Storm in her punk rock mohawk of the 1980's is featured on this page, adding to the nostalgia.

 

The Walking Dead - Issue #35 Page #15

 

This original art page features Glenn and Maggie in very sexy risque scene in the Meriwether County Correctional Facility, a.k.a. The Prison early in their romantic relationship. This was written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Charlie Adlard, published February 2007.

 

Glenn Rhee (Steven Yuen) and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) are both featured characters on the AMC television series, The Walking Dead.

 

This original art measures 11" x 17" and is from the early issues that Charlie Adlard worked on doing pencils and inks on this larger sized medium, in fact the last issue of that run from issues #7-35, later moving onto 8.5" x 14" sized paper.

 

This page is hand signed and autographed by artist Charlie Adlard.

 

 

The Walking Dead - Issue #62 Page #14

 

This original art page features Abraham Ford and Rosita Espinosa having sex and Eugene Porter watching them as a voyeur whose presence is known by Abraham. This was written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Charlie Adlard, published June 2009.

Norm Rapmund, the inker of this artwork hand signed and autographed this page at the bottom. The original publication is included with the original artwork. This artwork measures approx. 11" x 17"

 

Iceman - Issue #1 Page #4 SPLASH PAGE

 

This is the original art title splash page for the first issue of the limited series for the X-Men character, Bobby Drake a.k.a. Iceman, released December 1984, which was the start of comic's copper age. This was the 1st solo series for Iceman. This story "The Fuse" was written by J.M. DeMatteis and illustrated by Alan Kupperberg and Mike Gustovich.

 

The original publication, Iceman #1 is included with the original artwork. This artwork measures approx. 11" x 17"

 

 

Age of Apocalypes : The Chosen - Issue #1 Page #14 SPLASH PAGE PIN-UP

 

This is an original art splash page pin-up entitled "Forgotten" featuring Northstar (Jean-Paul Beaubier) and Aurora (Jeanne-Marie Beaubier) of Alpha Flight. The comic book was a special one shot that Marvel produced prior to the Age of Apocalypse storyline, as a resource guide to introduce the characters appearing in the story to the readers. It was about Apocalypse ruling and no Professor Xavier around. This had a 3 page story and pin-ups containing Apocalypse's files on the players in this alternate reality title. Illustrated by Ian Churchill and James Pascoe, this was published in April 2005.

 

Northstar was introduced in 1979, then in 1992 became the 1st openly gay super-hero and in 2012 had the 1st same sex wedding featured in comics. In The Age of Apocalypes, Northstar and Aurora are part of Mr. Sinister's Elite Mutant Force (E.M.F.).

 

The original publication is included with the original artwork. This artwork measures approx. 11" x 17"

This is an original art splash page pin-up entitled "Forgotten" featuring Northstar (Jean-Paul Beaubier) and Aurora (Jeanne-Marie Beaubier) of Alpha Flight. The comic book was a special one shot that Marvel produced prior to the Age of Apocalypse storyline, as a resource guide to introduce the characters appearing in the story to the readers. It was about Apocalypse ruling and no Professor Xavier around. This had a 3 page story and pin-ups containing Apocalypse's files on the players in this alternate reality title. Illustrated by Ian Churchill and James Pascoe, this was published in April 2005.

 

Northstar was introduced in 1979, then in 1992 became the 1st openly gay super-hero and in 2012 had the 1st same sex wedding featured in comics. In The Age of Apocalypes, Northstar and Aurora are part of Mr. Sinister's Elite Mutant Force (E.M.F.).

I have never done anything with "Comiclink" before.

ComicLink is easy to register to log on and bid. It's similar to eBay in that your interactions are online. So, it removes the fear some have of a live auction with an auctioneer carnival barker.

 

You can register online at their website www.comiclink.com

 

You can be slower and more methodical on your approach to bidding and buying with ComicLink.

 

They have all pieces in their possession, so unlike eBay where you may not trust sellers, ComicLink has all of the pieces and will ship them out to winning bidders/buyers upon receipt of payment after the auctions end.

 

Auctions close when the date and time approaches and elapses. So, unlike live auctioneer formats like Heritage, there's no "going once, going twice... wait!" type of bidding where you have a second chance or more opportunities. That makes it hard for snipers, since if a piece is at $1,000 and you're willing to bid up to $5,000 but only bid $3,000 right as it closes, and someone else bids $3,500, you may not have a chance to submit another bid on ComicLink due to lack of time and the finite nature of how auctions end on time. In that way, you really just need to truly put in your best offer and be at peace with no regrets if you don't want to lose out on a piece you want.

 

It's like eBay, so your bid is not your offer. It goes by increments to the bid below you. So, if there's a piece at $100 with $10 incremental bids, and you bid $200, then your bid is $110 and they'll represent you if someone bids $150, then you'll be the top biddger at $160 up until bidding exceeds your maximum bid offer.

 

When/if you bid, you'll be notified if you're ever "outbid" where you can then bid then, or as the auction closes. ComicLink Auction Summary

 

Not a whole lot of last minute sniping bidding wars where I saw prices escalate in the last remaining seconds on any pieces, and some pieces prices remained static from the beginning of the day, so had no additional action leading into the final hour of the auction.

 

The bargains with potential for profitable resale in the horizon, I think were in the J. Scott Campbell Gen 13 #13-B page with Spawn @ $1,000 as well as the Eric Basaldua "Witchblade" @ $605, and the Mel Rubi "Spider-Man / Red Sonja" double page splash with Mary Jane @ $406

 

The surprise for me in terms of exceeding expectations was in the Tim Sale "Batman Dark Victory" page @ $1,999, as well as a fairly recent Steve McNiven "New Avengers" panel page @ $476.
