Shipping books to Brazil and a question about a specific buyer

4 posts in this topic

I haven't dealt with this guy , check his feedback first.

1)

By eBay World Shipping, I'm assuming you mean eBay Global Shipping Program.

2)

eBay charges buyers around 200% of what it actually costs to ship books if you opt into the Global shipping program so no worries there.I'd opt out anyway , if I were you.

3)

If the guy is a scammer, you need to ship with insurance, as there is no other way to prove a package was delivered.

4)A general good rule of thumb is to require international buyers pay (or 50/50, you pay all etc) for insurance, specify this in your listings.

My wife is from Brasil and shipping there is stupid. It takes forever, it's guaranteed to be opened at the border and will probably get taxed out the wahoo once it enters the country.

Personally, I would stay away from shipping there.

We shipped a used laptop back to her family once and to get there in 2 months it cost $250 CAD and then was taxed at the border for an additional $550 CAD.

The used laptop was her family's own property as well. And yep, didn't matter.
