Katee Sackhoff to play Ms. Marvel?

So, you cannot see a difference between a real woman's body and a comic character's body:

No, I can't. And I think guys built like Juggernaut and Kingpin are walking around malls everywhere. :makepoint:

We were both responding to Peach's comment saying Jaime Alexander "doesn't have the chest" to play Siff. Obviously artists take creative license with all parts of every comic character, but that doesn't mean actors and actresses with extreme dimensions aren't out there when it's worth using them.

I'd disagree that Alexander doesn't play a good Siff. There's nothing about that character that calls for a sexualized body.

No, I didn't say that at all. I was responding to whomever said she should be killed off as Sif and play Captain Marvel. Captain Marvel has a big chest. Alexander does not.

Ms. Marvel should be played by Mamie Gummer or Grace Gummer

Are they both Meryl Streep's kids or something? They look just like her.

Yes they are Grace is a relatively unknown appeared as the younger version of Meryl in a film. Mamie has more experience, but still relatively unknown she just appeared in Ricki and the Flash with Meryl. Since Meryl is too old they are perfect

I'm not so sure that Captain Marvel's chest is one of her defining qualities. It seems to me that all adult female super-heroes in the Marvel Universe are portrayed as having larger-than-most-normal-female breasts, not just her. And by that logic, that limits the amount of female actors who can play these characters to a ridiculously small number.

I think in this case, it's probably best to put acting ability above breast size. (thumbs u

If your going off bust size then these actresses come to mind

1. Christine Hendricks

2. Keeley Hazell

3. Katy Perry

4. Lindsey Lohan

None of them resemble Captain Marvel in the slightest.

Oh, and as far as there not being women out there that look like comic women...you must not watch any porn. There are TONS of them out there. Not saying they can act, but the bodies are the same.

Was about to say the same... Amy Anderrsen is absolutely the body type. Can't act her way out of a paper bag, but porn actresses have a lot of the same body-types as comic characters. Hence why Greg Land light-boxes porn all the time.

Lord. Of course there are women in porn that have comic measurements. Why even bring it up when talking about casting choices?

Yeah, this is ridiculous. Like saying RDJ has to be packing 8+ inches to be Tony Stark. Sure, he might, but it's entirely irrelevant.

Cast a good actor who looks believable to the part. Simple as that! :foryou:

And female superheroes must never sweat. Never!

And they have to smell like the sweetest spring breeze, blowing through an Oriental Lily flower garden. It must be Oriental Lilies.

If Iron Man wore compression shorts instead of iron pantaloons, that could be a valid requirement to satisfy female fans. hm

I wasn't. I was bringing it up in response to the comment that there aren't many women out there with comic measurements.

You guys are having trouble reading lately. Maybe you need some whiskey.

I can read just fine. And perhaps you need less whiskey. Maybe then you'd have more time for things, like say dropping packages at the post office. (thumbs u

My point was that it doesn't matter if these people will superhumanly sexualized proportions are out there. It's still unrealistic to expect any of our potential actors to have those traits.

is it? Are there more actresses walking around that look like Carol Danvers or Brienne of Tarth?

No need to put actresses in a box of what they can or can't look like.

No need to put women with uncommon body types about whether they can or can't act.

When in the world did I say either one of those things? That's not what I'm saying at all.

My point was that just because (to quote myself) superhumanly sexualized actresses are out there, doesn't mean that we should judge the other potentially fantastic actors in the current running based on those bodies.

The prime example being the earlier breast comment; smaller-breasted actresses shouldn't be put behind larger-breasted actresses on the fact that their breasts are "too small" alone (aka, the Jamie Alexander example).

If they do happen to have breasts whose size satisfies the sexually-driven male audience, then I do believe that's a plus. But not the most important prequalifier.
