Shipping Raw Comics

12 posts in this topic

I would say that two thick pieces of cardboard in a Priority mailer is fine. If you are shipping more than a couple of books, though, a box is the way to go.

If you are thinking of the media mail option, try the search function to find one of the many threads that have kicked that one around.

If only there were a thread that covers this, preferably one that is pinned permanently to the top of this very forum.

I know how to pack books. Looking for something a little more specific on how to ship 3-5 books effectively without paying an arm and a leg for shipping. Thank you for the info though :)

Bag and board the comic.

Bag the comic again.(Explain why later)

Cut or buy cardboard 9.5 by 12.5 at least.(10x13 is fine too)

Secure comic to cardboard with tape(Extra bag)

Place 2 to 4 sheets of cardboard around comic and tape shut.

Ship in bubble mailer, flat rate envelope or box.(Sellers preference)

You can ship one book 1st class with 4 sheets of cardboard easily in a bubble mailer.

Some sellers will ship 2 to 3 using the folded cardboard mailers 1st class.

Flat rate envelopes you can ship around 14 books safely, but you have to get creative in packing once you get up past around 10. Legal flat rates are much easier to ship. You can even order bubble priority mailers from USPS as well as legal flat rates.

A lot of sellers are just plain lazy or arrogant and cant figure out why their packing sucks.

Do a mixture of the above and it will get to your buyer safely. The key is to use oversized cardboard and secure the book inside. Ive doing this a long time and those two aspects are the most important. Good Luck

Was wondering what was the best way to ship raw books? I haven't seen anything yet that was cost effective. Any ideas?

Thanks

Bigs

One or two regular books both bag and boarded and sandwiched between cardboard will fit in a bubble mailer and should be under 13 ounces so 1st Class is good.

If you have more than that, do the sandwich thing and ship Priority envelope where you can easily get up to 10 if not more bagged/boarded regular size (not squarebounds/annuals/magazines) comics.

Hope that helps.
