Looks like Atlanta is back on the schedule after some time off...

 

Edit: And now is showing new January dates...

I am sure it will be just as awful as it was last year. Talked to many of the artist and they said it was one of their worst shows ever

Talked to many dealers and it was the worst show ever for them. I went sat and sun and it was the slowest show i have ever seen.

it was our second worst show of the year (ny being horrible).... Harley yee bought 5 figs of comics from me or I would have lost money....

 

I would only go back to visit with local boardies (gaflash, etc).... the people sometimes make it worthwhile...

I hadn't heard anything good about this show either, and was surprised to see it show up on the schedule.

That has to be ridiculously expensive to cancel a con of that size.

Ehh... Not really. There are various dates that you have to cancel a venue to get some of the money back. If it's been cancelled in the past month or so, you're probably SOL.

 

The thing is, big venues that Wizard uses are usually booked up a year (or more) in advance. So if something cancels, they can't fill it very quickly. (As opposed to say a small hotel room or a hall where there's a chance to get someone in with a few months notice.)

Not sure but I'd bet Wizard would have put on the show if it cost them more to cancel it. But knowing Wizard anything is possible.
