Rare Comic Book Related Posters and Banners Heritage 1941 Capt. Marvel etc.

1 post in this topic

Heritage has some very rare comic book related items in their upcoming poster auction.

Adventures of Captain Marvel (Republic, 1941). Cloth Banner (35" X 117").

Taken from the popular Fawcett comic book character, this serial is considered by many to be one of the best ever produced by Republic, the King of the Serial studio. When a young boy is given the power to transform into a superhero with a single magic word, Captain Marvel is born. Western star Tom Tyler was never better than as the heroic Marvel. Banners were distributed with the serials of the day as they could be taken down and reinstalled each week when the serial chapter would change. They have always been known to be a far more scarce format than the one sheets and were produced on cloth with a grommet in each corner. Few have survived from the Golden Age as theater owners rarely ordered them. This is a Heritage first, boasting incredible colors which captures the excitement of the twelve chapter adventure. A fun find for fans of Tom Tyler and comic book fans alike
