James Bond XXIV: SPECTRE - "You're a kite dancing in a hurricane Mr. Bond."

I'm missing something in Craig's portrayal of Bond that doesn't seem to bother anyone else. I'm not seeing any of Connery's subtlety: his charm, his playfulness, and his humor, that added facets to the character's personality. Craig just looks like a stonefaced thug to me.

Connery's Bond was a bad azz. He had ice in his veins wen he needed it. Luv Craig doing his best Archer pose. :D

I've always enjoyed Lazenby's interpretation of Bond after Connery's, as he injected a serious yet mischievous tone into a role where he appears to be breaking the fourth wall at times. Of course, Lazenby is simply interpreting his own take on Connery's brand of dry humor and sharp wit. That's what I've always appreciated about those two Bonds.

However, while I really enjoyed Craig's performance in Casino Royale, I do agree with Fine Collector that Craig's affected stoicism seems to arise from the overly-intense Jason Bourne school of acting. A bit of levity (but not like Moore's take) would create a more charismatic character like the first two Bonds.

Connery is not a definitive Bond though. None of them have really captured Flemings character completely but they have all made the role their own. Lazenby, however unpopular was probably closest. Each did well in my opinion for their respective generations. I don't want the same Bond over and over. Sure Craigs version has a more serious tone but he can still bring humor to it.

"Now the whole world will know that you died scratching my balls."

I think he is a fantastic Bond.

Agreed.

He brought Bond into the modern world of relevance.

Amazing that Skyfall beat the last Batman and Superman movies at the box office.

I would say James Bond is at his peak of popularity now.

It should be interesting to see how James Bond XXIV: SPECTRE fares at the box office against the new Avengers and Star Wars movies this year.

I like Craig as he's the only one since Connery who actually looks like he can beat the of people. Casino Royale was intense and fun and had an awesome Bond girl in Eva 'I'm the money' Green. Quantum was a misstep, but Skyfall delivered on every level.

Really looking forward to this!

Then you never watched Lazenby in OHMSS.

1. SW (re-breaks Avg 2 world box office record)

2. Avg 2 (box off world record)

3. 007

no mystery

All 3 films will be blu ray worthy

I am very selective when buying movies unless I ever want to find myself in the mess I did with a flood of DVDs that went unwatched. To me, that is money better spent on music.

Usually I wait until the movies have been out a month or two and buy a severely discounted copy or a used copy off of Amazon or Half.com. With that said.

I will probably end up "eventually" getting SW7 but maybe not until SW9 is released and then buy them all (again) in whatever the new format is.

I have yet to buy a Marvel movie despite seeing them all and the same is said for 007.

It is strange but my movie owning trends have changed drastically along with my movie going trend since the advent of the internet and media providers such as netflix.

In preparation for Spectre...

Best James Bond Scenes

Dr. No (1962)

In the inaugural James Bond film, Sean Connery utters the infamous line, “Bond, James Bond” which becomes a staple of every James Bond film to comd. This establishes Bond as a mysterious character as he sits at a casino table with a pipe in his mouth. This is a classic scene and one for which Bond is most remembered.

:applause:

Sony just can't catch a break.

Sony Could Soon Lose Its Most Valuable Asset: 007!

Variety reports that Sony’s rights to co-distribute the Bond films will expire following the November 6 release of Spectre. Since 2006, Sony has distributed the Bond franchise alongside Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). But after Spectre, those rights to co-distribute alongside MGM will go to the highest bidder, which could easily be a studio other than Sony.

“The reality is that Sony’s had a fantastic run with the Bonds,” Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman, who replaced Pascal, told Variety. “Sure we’re going to compete for [the rights], but let’s be honest, so is everybody in the business.”

If this happens, could Sony be more open to 100% Marvel Studios development of Spider-Man?
