High Grade Amazing Spider-Man From Canarsie Collection in Pedigree’s May Auction

2 posts in this topic

We have acquired on consignment a fabulous collection of 1960’s and early 1970’s Marvels for our upcoming May Grand Auction. The auction is scheduled to begin in just over three (3) weeks, on the night of Monday, May 11th and last for ten (10) days until the night of Thursday, May 21st as a separate event on the Pedigree Comics website (www.PedigreeComics.com). There is no Buyers Premium on any of the lots in the auction and every item will have no reserve. Every book is CGC graded and there is no minimum bid for this Grand Auction. The starting bid on each lot is only $1. You can view over 450 lots in the Auction Preview right now. Just go to the website and click on the Grand Auctions banner.

Most of the books from the consignment were purchased at the now defunct Canarsie Comics shop in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, New York (hence the nickname “Canarsie Collection”). The collection features deep runs of the following mainstream Silver into Bronze Age Marvel titles: Amazing Spider-Man; Avengers; Captain America; Daredevil; Fantastic Four; Incredible Hulk; Iron Man and Journey Into Mystery/Thor. The collection also consists of smaller groups of issues from Captain Marvel; Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD; Silver Surfer; Tales to Astonish and X-Men. The average grade of the books is around 9.2-9.4 but there will be many 9.6 and 9.8 examples. Almost every book has either off-white to white or white page quality and immaculate structure. Many of the books from the collection (which contains approximately 650 books in total) are at the CGC offices awaiting certification and will be graded over the next few weeks and in time for the auction.

The best and deepest overall run of the collection is Amazing Spider-Man, with over 120 high grade issues to choose from between issue #1 and issue #155. There are many outstanding ultra high grade copies in this run. Here are just some of the highlights:
