Rough cut edges, and how the grades are affected.

I'm aware of ASM 300's right side not being a big deal in the grading process, but what about other books where it's not a common thing. Obviously, even though it's a production issue, there's no question it's out of the 9.9/10 range, but can a book that is clearly a 9.8 still be a 9.8 with an edge like this that is production related?

I have a Copper 9.8 with a the top edge of the back cover that is rough like your example, yet the front cover edge is sharp and straight. I had wondered myself how this affects the grade, and also if this is common and also how it could be manufactured that way.

I have another Marvel book from November, 1984, also an Indiana Jones book but this one does not have the rough top edge.

Transformers 1 has the same back cover. Anyone here have a 9.8 with this defect?
