They're about the same, but if I had to chose between the two, I think the 52 is structurally better, not to mention doesn't have a stain that's several inches long.

 

Corners are about the same, but I think the 52 is a bit sharper on the top and right edge. 46 has a buggered up area under the "46" number, while the 52 has a tear on the back cover. The bottom staple on the 52 looks clean, whereas both staples on the 46 look questionable and a little brown, although who knows from the scan.

 

What sinks the 46's battleship is the water stain tide marks ULHCBC.

 

52 is a sharper book all day long, in my opinion at least.
