Heroes Con report, from the other side of the table...

78 posts in this topic

Hello all...

I believe our first heroes con was in 2006, so this one makes it our 10th anniversary...

I didn't have time to get around the hall...one day I will!

and I didn't have time to take many pics, so this will basically be "what were folks buying" type report...

take care

Some Friday's for us are strong, others are not.... this Friday, we didn't do too much above avg sales (I know most reported strong sales Friday)... maybe more dealer to dealer (shrug)

Sat for us was above avg, and if I had of accepted a very fair offer on our batman 1, it would have been an "excellent" sales day...but alas, sometimes as a seller, there are just some books that the collector in me can't part with for anything less than asking ...luckily I hymmed and hawed and the buyer decided to purchase a diff mega key from another vendor, so my decision was made easy... there are many books I have on my walls that I do have some emotional attachment too, and therefore, are a lot less willing to part with...just the nature of the beast...

Sun for us was exceptionally strong...almost better than sat, but definitely our best sunday sales day , for heroes, that I can recall...

next, onto what we sold!

Hulk 1 (had 7 available copies, sold 0)

So, do you think the market is softening on this one, or the serious people already have one, or your prices were a tad too aggressive, or....something else?

most all copies I had were procured last year when prices did seem a bit "stronger"....so my retails were "aggressive" relative to my cost vs market...

that said, I have no problem having as many hulk 1s as I can buy lol

my wife contributed about 10 bucks in dollar books with you :)
(worship)

in keeping with this thread... we have a LOT of $1 type books in our store and warehouse....once my locals pick what they want, I really "need" these drivable cons (mega con, tampa, heroes) etc that I can load the van up with 40+ boxes of $1 books and sell to "new" customers...we sold over 1000 $1 books, so that is always nice!

I had two copies and sold both with one going to a 15 year old kid. People sure seemed to be hunting for that one since both of my copies sold after they asked if I had it.

Awesome as always Rick!

I love the way you got your little Man hustling for the Raw side of your booth.

I saw him all over the place snagging books and I though that was cool as ice!

I see the future, he will become one the biggest dealers on the east coast!
