Anyone purchased art from ....

Has anyone purchased art from: http://chiaroscuro-studios.com/

They have some awesome Earth 2 World's End pages from Eddy Barrows such as this:

But I am confused on the Chiaroscuro Studios link versus the G&B Comics reference/pick-up in Singapore???

So anyone on the boards dealt with them and can vouch for them?

Also, novice original art collector questions, as the Earth 2 World's End pages are obviously modern/recently drawn they clearly don't have the dialogue boxes in them (added later in production) but I have also noticed pencil only versions of pages and inked versions of pages - are they done separately, does a pencil and ink version of each page exist and which one is more desirable?

Depends on the artists.

Some artists send the penciled page to the inker and they ink right over the top (Lee) while others have the inker use a blueline or similar scan (I believe Capullo does this). I've always felt the pencil is the foundation of a piece, but both inker and colorist provide significant translation of a piece - so it really depends on what you appreciate. The same artist can look dramatically different when using different inkers/colorists

I live in Singapore and G&B is a comic shop. Been around for a bit. Chiaroscuro probably has some business relationship with G&B which allows them to ship items over for free. So good news for Sporeans I guess if they want to buy art from Chiaroscuro. if your not then shipping costs apply.

That's exactly what it is. They'll ship to that store for pickup, so the shipping is cheaper.

I got a 5 character Allan Goldman commission through Chiaroscuro. It was finished within 11 days from time of payment to layouts (to altered layout) to rough pencils, to finished piece. Took a few weeks to receive, but that is because it was shipped first from the artist to Chiaroscuro and then on to me. It was about as seemless a commission transaction as I have had (and the commission turned out amazing!). Link to the commission if you are interested...heh:
