ASSASSIN'S CREED starring Michael Fassbender (12/21/16)

75 posts in this topic

I was very surprised to see Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in this when I first heard about the film, but I assumed they saw something in the screenplay worth pursuing. Now that the critics are pooping all over it, I'm now newly-puzzled as to why they said "yes" to this. Huge paycheck?

Potential multi-film franchise = $$$$$$$$$$$

The smart actor/actress will take a chance on multi-film franchises in order to pay the bills while they do the smaller artsy/pet project films in between. (thumbs u

Well, the string of mediocre video games to films continues.

This one had a double whammy. It bombed at the box office and got thrashed by the critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Assassin`s Creed reviews are a bloodbath!

Assassin's Creed' Movie Reviews now 17% at ROTTEN TOMATOES

BOMBS at box-office!

How much money will Assassin`s Creed lose?

Assassin’s Creed is currently on track to lose between $75 – $100 million.

I thought this would have been the first video game movie that would have turned the tide both critically and box office-wise.

Nope, it now seems only a Zelda or Halo movie could turn the tide.

I even just read that was Anna Kendrick's excuse to do the Twilight films in her new autobiography.

I bought a 4-pack Van Damme film set for Black Friday and just tried to watch Street Fighter.

It made Batman V Superman look like an Oscar contender.

Man, that's a lot of critical duds.

It's too bad they can't get a decent filmmaker to work on one (Jan DeBont excluded.)

Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Tomb Raider and Mortal Kombat were decent watches back in the day, but are pretty unwatchable now, with out-dated effects, loud soundtracks and excessive wire work. My 2c

Honestly, looking back on all these videogame movies I find Street Fighter and the first Mortal Kombat were the best.

Who doesn`t love the late Raul Julia in Street Fighter? He was awesome in it.

Always had a crush on Bridgette Wilson, so Mortal Kombat gets a pass. I just can't get that techno music out of my head afterwards. lol

I saw this movie, having never played the game, but generally understanding the gist. There's some high profile names in here like Fassbender, Marian Cotillard, and Jermey Irons. Acting was fine for all three of them.

The running around rooftops was fun, the fighting was ok, but not filmed right, but suffered mostly because of the PG-13 rating, so it couldn't be violent enough. Assuming the game is MA, people playing the game should be 17 or over anyways....

The ending was abrupt, and I wished they would have just stayed in ancient spain the whole movie instead of being half in the present, or made the transitions less jarring, a la godfather 2.

THere's worse comic book movies, I gave this movie a 5.5 from start to finish, which is actually the same as Batman vs Superman, though BvS had higher highs and lower lows, while Assassins Creed was consistently mediocre. Its as enjoyable as your average Resident Evil. For sure not a must watch, but there were some cool visuals

Yup. Street Fighter was an excellent b movie, and so was the first Mortal Kombat. I remember seeing that in a sold out theater PACKED with people, including one of the actors.
