Ebay problem

10 posts in this topic

O.K. so out of the 48 auctions I held this month I had one in which the following happened:

Said buyer won 3 or 4 auctions. Upon receipt of the books he tells me that it is missing the IF 14 that was indicated to be in one of the auctions. I had so many auctions going I couldn't even begin to have an inkling as to where this book might be if it wasn't shipped. The kicker is that the buyer stated the IF 14 was the main reason he bid on the auction to begin with. frown.gif

I've already sent an email apologizing for my error and I'm contemplating offering him a refund for the entire auction amount he won for the auction the IF 14 was in (only 41.00).

Too much? Too little?

Was it only the Iron Fist 14 in that particular auction? Or were other comics inc. Also, what was the condition of the comic or comics.

Even before you answer, probably the best way to handle this is to find out first what the buyer wants. First reason is sometimes it's less than the solution you have in mind and secondly, it's more important in a situation like this. You want him to be happy, and in order to do that you need to know what he needs from you to make him happy.

I'd email all the buyers as well, you might get lucky and have sent it to a decent and honest guy who will return it...

I can't tell you if I have it or not as I have to wait another 4-5 weeks before your stuff gets here (if customs doesn't hold it for a while).

If the book seems lost, talk to the bidder and ask him what he would find fair compensation from your side...

Maybe he'll settle for one of your infamous Porno ties as trade smile.gif

Good luck Dave...

I have emailed the winners of my other auctions to see if someone else received the book in error. I also told the buyer that I'd check my collection carefully this evening. I'll keep my fingers crossed! wink.gif

The buyer said he'd accept a 50% refund of the auction price...I'll also point out that this buyer caught an addition error by me when payment was due (40.00 worth! blush.gif )...one of the honest and good folks in the world.

Counting the shipping calculation error this counts as three errors (all on my part) with this group of auctions!

*Sigh* Perhaps it's time for this old man to hang up selling on ebay. frown.gifwink.gif

Not everyone enjoys those porno ties like I do Allan! grin.gif
