whomever wins that book is buying the grade and not the book, before the advent of CGC, nobody would've graded this book NM/MT 9.8

i hope it is me....but chances are slim................ frown.gif

Bonds, this brings up my personal interest in 'Would you rather have off-centered allignment with no spine creases in 9.4 and above' or Would you rather have 5 to 11 spine breaks in beautifully alligned 6.0's to 7.5's'? Does age matter? tongue.gif

A bit harsh supa. That cover is bone white and you could cut your hands on those corners they are so sharp. shocked.gif

Admitedly the cover is mis-wrapped slightly, but the cover is white so it doesn't detract too much.

Of course we all know the award of a 9.8 to a silver book is an arbitary CGC decision. grin.gif

Still, I'm betting the book breaks $1K easily.

I dunno if the scan is altering it or not, but that is one of the whitest covers on a 1960s book I've ever seen; I can't detect any yellowing or off-whitedness. Also, white covers like this are usually translucent against CGC's white microchamber paper, but I can't detect any of that on this copy. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

I guess my $600 guess won't win?? frown.gif

I think it's a beautiful issue, but still don't agree with a book that off-centered receiving a grade of 9.8. It really sticks out on that white cover.

matt,

it seems your the only one who agrees with me on the cover being off centered/miswrap. frown.gif if that book was being sold raw in the old days before CGC, the spine would've turned off many anal potential buyers. blush.gif cover is nice and white, but i hear many forum members queef and moan about covers being off centered or miswrap in HG given by CGC. shocked.gif
