Laminated Cover

9 posts in this topic

Sorry Just a hypothetical---if a book was laminated so it couldn't be removed without damaging the book could it be authenticated by CGC? Would it get a purple label (as in reglossed??) Curious as to what people think... Read somewhere that someone thought it would automatically get a .5 (if it was a full book ?)

Hi Iceman,

First off--dig your signature line addition of the video from the TV show! That's cool.

I really don't have any specific books that I was looking at per say. I was just thinking about the covers that sold about a half a year ago (AA 16, Marvel Mysteries, Capt Marvel, etc) They were really cool pieces I was just wondering if the new owners would be able to get them certified (I guess the laminate was not removable in any way without damaging the paper)

Thanks when I watched it live I legit stood up in shock and awe. I was interested in the AA16 (which is the one I thought you were talking about). I was told from "Him" that if the laminate couldn't be removed it couldn't be certified (sent him a link to the auction etc). I imagine CGC stance would be the same. I guess its like most say you can feel the paper and differences in it (repo etc), also sure it would be near impossible to properly determine resto.
