Tax ID Number question

I did a search but couldn't find anything. I want to do a local show but heard I needed a tax id number. I looked it up and seems easy enough but what do I need if it is just for me since I don't employ anybody? Do I need a state and federal id number or is there just one? Is it a TIN or EIN? If someone has a link a previous thread I missed it would be appreciated too. Thanks.

If you're not incorporated, your EIN is your SSN.

But for a state/county sales tax number, you'll have to apply.

When shows ask for a tax id, its for sales tax, not income tax.

Some of the bigger shows used to have same day sign ups for them, but I don't know if they still do.

easiest to contact the city office of licenses/revenue...many times they will only require a temp seller permit to collect tax and that is easier to obtain, etc, but every city/state is diff
