Beware - These Signatures Don't Look Authentic On This Ebay Auction

7 posts in this topic

This seller has an enlarged, reproduction "print" of a 1965 Marvel stationery sheet. However, he says that the signatures are original. I am very familiar with those of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Neal Adams. Steranko is pretty easy to reproduce, but not the others. The sigs are not fluid but choppy with gaps in-between some of the letters. Stan never has a gap between the "S" and "T" as they flow together with no breaks when signing (despite the time period). I don't think these are authentic at all. What do you guys think?

He also has a Fantastic Four #358 11 x 17 print too, signed by John Romita Sr., but he doesn't mention Stan Lee's (at the bottom) on it. What's interesting about this is that on the reverse side is the official, production approval stamp without any info inserted in the blanks. Who would reproduce an original splash page on both sides? However, it can be done. I do know that all the signatures by John and Stan are fake. Look on the bottom at John's. The "A" on the end is so badly done, as well as all of the letters on the right side of the page (second signature). That is one of the the worst Stan Lee forgeries too (bottom left). I am not sure what these "prints" were for but the autographs are not genuine. What do you guys think?

This is the same guy that had fake Watterson Calvin & Hobbs (sic) http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8663115#Post8663115

And other comic covers. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8875033&fpart=1

Why eBay lets this guy keep going is truly shameful.
