I don't have any problems paying $5 or $20 for a signature.

IF you are intending to sell (or keep) a CGC (or raw) book, you can figure that into the cost of whatever you are doing.

Many comic book artists whose work I enjoy are getting up there in age.

Many do not have a regular income any more. Some have health issues, etc.

If I can help out even a little bit, that's great. I think of it as part of the appreciation of an artist.

What is a drop in the bucket for many of us adds up to some degree over the course of a con for an artist who might really benefit from it. And I am happy for it.

I get what you are saying Muster and I agree. I guess I'm a little old school. Most of the time when I have paid for an autograph I don't really feel great about it. It isn't the money just feels like some kind of a business transaction or something. I only ask people that are important to me and usually only one book. (Not slabbed).

I really respect what a guy like Steranko does. First one is free and any more are $5. each. Way fair and he will actually talk to you with a smile and even take a photo. Wrightson doesn't charge for a couple either. These newer artists are currently working and just trying to cash in.

If you really want to help out one of the older guys, just over pay for a sketch.

The guys who walk up with a pile and a CGC witness, that's another story...

Had a lot of fun at this con today. Bought pretty well (especially from robot are). Got to talk to Russ Heath, a living legend. He signed a couple of my books (no charge) and I surprised him with a nice bottle of wine. Saw a few boardies. There were probably a lot more there that I didn't know. I will post a con report with photos over in my 50 Year Junk Obsecession over in GA probably Monday or Tuesday. Good job on this show and well worth going to tomorrow if you are in the LA area.
