Rusted or Replaced Staples?

As I read through the dealbreakers thread, there were many comments with regard to not liking or wanting rusted staples.

 

That made me wonder, with all things being equal, if you had a choice between a book with rusty staples or one with replaced staples (not rusted, of course), which would you choose?

Replaced staples never ever rusted staples!! Unless the book was free/gift then there would be no complaints....but I still would probably sell it and get one without rust.

You should add 'cleaned staples' to your options. I think that's the least bad alternative.

It also depends on what you are going to do with the book. If i am going to keep it for myself then replaced or cleaned staples. If i am going to send it to CGC for sale then rusted staples because even though they downgrade for that it will get a blue label unlike the others.
