DC Anniversary Issues Covers Appreciation

26 posts in this topic

I just scored a fresh copy of Batman #400 the other day and thought about how it looked good with my Superman #400.

I was then asked by another boardie if I had, or knew of a list of theses anniversary covers which had the same logo/font as the Sup and Bats #400.

So help me build a list and show us your Copper DC Anniversary covers!

There's also:

Legion of Super-Heroes #300 (6/83)

Firestorm #50 (8/86)

I'm sure there's a couple of others I'm forgetting.

Edit: yup, forgot these:

Green Lantern #200 (5/86)

Justice League of America #250 (5/86)

Star Trek #50 (5/88) how could I forget this, I collect this title

Would you count Flash #300 among them?

It's a larger, $1.00-size issue and it does have the words 25th Anniversary at the top of the cover, but doesn't have the golden Anniversary letterhead banner like the others. However, it's cover-dated 8/81 making it the earliest of these larger anniversary issues so far - maybe the first - before DC decided to unify them with the special banner?

Green Lantern #150 (5/82) is the same thing - larger size, $1.00 price, stated anniversary issue but lacks the gold banner.

Thank you so much Number 6! I took a look at GL #50 and Flash #300 and decided not to count them, but they still look neat!

Wonder woman 300 is in there too.

The key qualifier for this list is that the issues have to have the Anniversary banner at the top of the front cover. WW #300 doesn't have that.

Judging by the cover dates, DC didn't start using that banner until 1983. There's several pre-'83 issues that are the same concept - WW #300, 'Tec #500, Justice League of America #200 - but all lack the Anniversary banner.
