It's interesting to see how some of these things are inspired. Long story short, my friend Dave works for Bungie who makes games like Halo (which he worked on) and he was at PAX West where they were highlighting Destiny. Interestingly, Dave models some of the characters on people he knows. Here's quick sample of his daughter modeling for a poster for Destiny that they were giving away last week and the end result:

Cool stuff, thx for sharing.

 

If you look back on old ebay auctions, seller bungieinc sold some concept art from halo 1 about five years ago at various prices between 1 and 6k depending on the piece. Some of the auctions can be referenced from the feedback for that user.
