Bronty
So I figure those of us with the sickness will find this useful since the sales aren't in GPA. I will just track the major auctions not the one offs. (info for auctions 1&2 courtesy Ivan's article on CBD. Some of these I wouldn't personally consider whites but I have left his data intact). eccomic
Triumph 12 with the ICONIC Nelvana cover has trended down. Not that rare and copies keep surfacing. Compare the 1.5 copy that realized $2600 in April 2014 Versus the recent sale of a 6.0 copy for $3600 I still thought $3600 for a 6.0 was a strong price. But I may be just a tad biased. Heh. Bronty
Not as rare as the others, yeah, but it has to be said the 1.5 had great eye appeal for the grade and that the grade/price spreads are small - there are other examples I will point out. Besides, 2 data points really doesn't make a trend IMO, it just makes two data points - up down or indifferent

Its so hard to draw meaningful comparisons (kind of why I starte the thread) ; the exchange rate between USD and CDN is going to be a major factor here and it has shifted a lot (negatively from the Cdn POV) since 2014, and there is so much quality and choice this time too. lou_fine
Great job saving these price results in one place here, Dan. Sounds to me like a potential lawsuit as Dan is stealing and publishing copyrighted auction results information right from you boys at the CL website. Seriously though, it would be fantastic if CL could set up some sort of archive database for their auction results going forward.

Bronty
Thanks for posting this, Dan. Your point about the negative trend of the CDN dollar is good to think with when looking at the prices from two years ago. Welcome everyone. And yeah, I don't think the forex can be ignored; I know I was certainly thinking about it as I was bidding. To put it another way, when the 6.5 nelvana sold for roughly 14k, that was roughly 14k Cdn. This latest sale of the 5.0 is about 20k Cdn. I don't think the books track in USD because the great majority of the collectors are Cdn. I also don't think they track purely in Cdn $ because we can consign other books, for example, to raise USD funds, and because there might be a few US based collectors. So it would track to something in between. We need a third currency based on whites
