MusterMark
Thanks for posting this, Dan. Your point about the negative trend of the CDN dollar is good to think with when looking at the prices from two years ago. Welcome everyone. And yeah, I don't think the forex can be ignored; I know I was certainly thinking about it as I was bidding. To put it another way, when the 6.5 nelvana sold for roughly 14k, that was roughly 14k Cdn. This latest sale of the 5.0 is about 20k Cdn. I don't think the books track in USD because the great majority of the collectors are Cdn. I also don't think they track purely in Cdn $ because we can consign other books, for example, to raise USD funds, and because there might be a few US based collectors. So it would track to something in between. We need a third currency based on whites I find that idea intriguing.

Makes sense, most buyers are Canadian and they have to factor in a 30% premium to play. I certainly factored the exchange rate in in my bids. It would be interesting to see what happens if the Cnd $ grows in value compared to the US$
jimjum12
The main thing here is that these books got some serious exposure..... I ,for one, was impressed with how cool many of them are. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)

Bronty
I'm too lazy to put this into a calculator but my eyeball math (highly questionable) figures around 60k USD for the consignments last night.
ecgt
Crazy prices for the most part. The Colossal Comics 2 was the one I expected to go for the most, but the final price it realized was far above my expectations. With the exception of the Dizzy Don books, the Bell Features price points are incredible.
Bronty
this might be the starkest contrast of the night: both Bell humor books: funny comics 7 6.0 112 ($20 a point...) Joke comics 3 1.5 3400 ($2200 a point...) Now, the Joke is part of a good title at least, so its the better book, but........... yeesh. The content is not that different. ecgt
This is a really fair point, Dan. Considering that I paid $20 CDN shipped (on eBay!) for an incomplete copy of Joke # 9 earlier this month, I feel like the "joke" is on whoever paid $2200 for that Joke # 3. It's a real head-scratcher (or do I mean knee-slapper?)
Bronty
Well, the beat went on last night, even for some books in atrocious grade. update posted to OP
Bronty
Bells, especially more desirable issues, remained absurdly strong. Early AAs showed some decent strength. Maple Leafs were mixed, but few were available. Late AAs continued to be very affordable, as did feca books and educational projects books. ecgt
I was expecting this to be the auction where the prices started to fall, considering the number of poor grades. The prices that the Triumphs achieved are mind-blowing and the prices that the Wow 17 and 18 achieved make the Wow # 1 from the last auction (as well as the one available on eBay right now) look like steals.
