Do storage/shelving hardwoods affect paper aging?

For any of the woodworkers here, I was thinking of making a custom bookshelf for my comics, and was curious if anyone believes the type of hardwoods (maybe maple, mahogany, red oak, hickory) would have any affect on the aging of paper in it's environment. Shelf will be isolated in a closet with no light. Something I didn't really think of until I was picking out wood today, but curious if it makes any difference.

The type of wood won't have an impact, but the finish will - I'm using a water-based sealer for my cabinets to avoid the off-gassing that would occur from an oil-based finish.

Ahh excellent point, I'm not sure I even trust the safe water-based ones. I think I will probably leave the wood unfinished. If you or anyone care to share some pictures of their set-ups feel free to post them.

Off-gassing, which could affect the page quality of your books.

Some woods will continue to put out sap and other chemicals (pine is notorious) long after they have dried out enough to use for shelving, furniture, etc.
