General discussion thread - keep the other threads clean

OK, I have to leave, HOWEVER as per Arch's wonderful memo, I'm taking this to the discussion board...

How many threads per day is too many...?

More than two in my opinion.

And just to be clear, I politely mentioned Dale's three threads in one day and why it might not be a good idea. He has decided to be pretty bullheaded about the matter...very similiar to what happened in his other pulled sales thread.

Jim

This is NOT at all similar to the other thead. I was in clear violation of the guidelines, simply because I did not take the time to read them. However, I went and read the guidelines and this in NO WAY violates any of them.

As you stated, more than 2 is your "opinion". How am I, or anyone else for that matter, going to know (or base our decisions) on your opinions? I am sure other people have opinions about it as well. Many(most?) of them are on my side.

The guidelines are there for a reason. If they need to be changed, then address it that way and I will play by the rules just like everyone else.

Is it bullheaded to stand up for myself? I am not trying to be a bad guy. But I do feel like I am being targeted for some reason, and I am certain that I am not in the wrong. So I will do what I think is right.

Oh, there's a surprise. meh

Tell you what...I'm going to start a new thread every time I have more than twenty books to sell. I'll have the whole front page all to myself, 24/7.

Or I could decide to be reasonable and fair to everyone else and just keep using the same thread until it reaches...oh, let's say 270 pages. meh

270 pages of drek :cloud9: :cloud9:

That's the point...it's not all been drek. I've posted a Batman #84 in there, Neal Adams X-Men, FF from about #20 through to #200...and just about anything inbetween.

Ah, what's the ing point...be on the look-out for as many threads as I feel like starting on any given evening. (thumbs u

(worship) (worship) (worship) (worship)

Well, I'm not all that bright I guess...I can't handle more than 1 thread, let alone 2, but I figure 2 should be max per day, just to be kind . I suppose if I wanted to do three, I'd just wait a day or two, then again, I've never been macho;)

I also find as a shopper, I get lost with so many threads and I do try to look at as many as I can.

The other problem is, honestly, I hate stepping on people's toes and having to explain myself if I post something in a thread about perhaps being considerate, I find upsetting...

I may still try and do it, but it's not fun....I don't like being the bad guy/person, pointing stuff out, and that was never the intent...I doubt it is for most people...however, it seems that is how it is perceived by some...

The answer to me is...no good deed, lol...so...everyone have a beer, soda, cookie (oh and I picked up pizza, too...non of this online food has any calories btw;) so.....group hug...

Dale you are welcome to have a slice as well, I certainly, for one, do not intend to single you out....but I suppose I never noticed anyone else starting 3 threads within a few hours...if I do see that, I will say something to the other person, even though I don't really feel like saying anything anymore.

No problem. I respect your opinion. However, let me point out, that is was not like the threads started on top of each other. One started yesterday about 11:00. One started later in the day. And one started about 10:15 last night. By the time I started the last thread, the other 2 were off the board.

And the guideline talks about spamming and attempting to take over the front page. In no way, under no one's wildest imagination did I do anything even similar to this. I simply had 3 completely different types of material to list and felt the most effective way to sell them was to list them under different threads. I have NOT bumped any of them, and the MISC stuff for sale thread is probably on page 5 by now.

You aren't the first to be called out for multiple threads so you can can the victim angle. There's a reason people mentioned your multiple threads...that's because others in the past have taken advantage of doing so. It's common courtesy as well. You aren't the only seller in the Marketplace and creating multiple threads put them at a disadvantage...especially considering who you are...

I and others were polite when we posted about the threads. You responded with "I don't see it in the rules, so I'll do whatever I want" instead of asking why. I take it you don't take constructive criticism well...

[font:Century Gothic]What about making sub-topics, like the one for the VCC, that will cater to specific types of sales: SS, Gold, Silver, etc... I don't know if this will make it any simpler, but it would create a venue where you could have more than one sales thread on the front page, but of different genres/periods.

What say you?[/font]

That would be outstanding for me. I have books to post right now, but I am refraining simply to appease the complainers. If this forum is truly to sell books, it would make sales that much more effective and easier.

If you are going to quote me, please do so correctly. If you are just going to paraphrase me, please do not use the quotation marks, because it is extremely disingenuous of you.

I would hate for that to reflect badly on you.

I don't think he intended it as a quotation, but more of an interpretive paraphrase.

Hey Dale, while your here...do you have any really sweet GGA GA books hanging around.....or do you mainly deal in SA and forward? Just curious.

No, I have quite a bit of GA actually. I have about 7 boxes of GA, and about 5 boxes of Precode horror. I don't have alot of GGA books in high grade, with the exception of Fiction House. But I do have several Fox books, lots of Matt Baker stuff (mostly St John), and stuff like that.

Yeah, I know what he was trying to do. But by using the quotation marks, he is indicating that I said EXACTLY that. Not really very honest in my opinion.

meh Jeez guy do you have some type of persecution complex? That's essentially what you said in three posts. Next time I'll add "essentially" so you won't think everyone's ganging up on you...

I am not running any angle. I am not trying to be the only seller in the market place. If you look at the first 3 pages, there will be at least 50 other sellers represented. If it were nighttime instead of noon, there would probably be 50 others in front of my posts.

I don't question that most people were polite when posting about the thread. I simply disagree that I did anything inappropriate. What would you do in that circumstance. When the first post came up, I immediately went back and read the guidelines. I politely responded to Divad after that.

Taking constructive criticism and jumping everytime someone says something to me are two entirely different things.

I understand that we disagree. And thats not a problem for me. I have no hard feelings about it. Each is entitled to his opinion. If the moderator determines that I am wrong, I will certainly abide by his ruling.

Would it be right of me to quote you in this way????

"I don't care what Dale thinks and I don't care what the moderator thinks, and I don't care what the guidelines are, this is what I think needs to happen", because that is essentially the same thing you did to me.

Change that to caring about what the mod thinks and the spirit of the guidelines and I have no problem with it... (thumbs u

Thats kind of the point though right?? Quotations mean a direct quote. And since that is not what you said or think, then it is not really appropriate.

Hey Arch,

Let's just set up a separate "Dale Roberts For Sale Forum". I mean he's just a nice guy and everything, and he just wants to sell some books . . . so what's the big deal? (shrug)

Let's cut him some slack and build his website for him right here in River City :sumo:

No...you were mostly right. Have you ever heard of paraphrasing?

But looking at your quote, since the mod hasn't chimed in on your three threads in one day and doing so goes against what the guidelines were put in place for AND what the Board concensus was before your buddies chimed in then your quote was faulty.

My quote was essentially paraphrasing what you said in a couple posts so I stand by it.
