One of the things that personally saddens me about this situation is that a twelve year old boy apparently just views comics as commodities. There are enough adults around here who just see comics as $$$ and nothing more. IMHO a twelve year old should be reading and enjoying comics....the $$$ aspect shouldn't even factor in yet...again IMHO 2c

Seems his father was at least partially participating in his buying/selling, so maybe that mitigates?

Just was thinking of posting that.

By the way, does anyone use software like Snag-It that can copy videos from online? Someone may want to grab that video as potential evidence in case the father decides to take it down and claim he has no idea what anyone is talking about.

That will do the trick.

Nice job by Nick, Harvey, et al, keep everyone posted,

Today is Bobbie and my 34th wedding anniversary. Going to do the

We already have the videos, screen shots of all incriminating posts and everything is locked away. But thank you for suggesting it.

I know about the screen shots. I was helping Chris and Justin with the details yesterday.

I have copied the video, just in case it disappears. If someone did this already, good job!

I thought that's why they slabbed these things in the first place, so we didn't have to read them. (shrug)

Let's not forget this was a 12 year old kid. He's smart but still immature and obviously hasn't learned enough about ethics and how his lies can affect others. How many of us did stupid things at this age and how many of us had the maturity to match our intelligence?

Stringing him up, sending him to jail, stalking him on-line, that's not how to deal with a child. This kid needs help. I pray that his dad didn't understand that his son was using dishonest methods to make a profit and I pray that his parents will step in and teach him about honesty and ethics.

This event also makes me wonder how many other underage members we have.

All true.

He needs to make amends for what he's done. Pay back the people he lied to to get partial refunds, and (if he overgraded) refund the people that he took on that end of deals.

I pray someone shows him the error in his ways, that the end doesn't justify any means.

There are many ways to make money and just as many to lose one's integrity.

Chris, just to throw this out there... since many of us sellers were selling to a minor... can't his father, and or family, legally demand that we refund him for merch sold to him?

I assume this, deception on his part or not, since he isn't old enough to enter into a legally binding contract. hm

xxx ooo

You're right, he cannot legally enter into a contract at his age. That's where parental liability/approval comes into play.

If the parents had no knowledge of dealing they could object, but as the father so proudly claimed he was monitoring all the emails and watching him do deals and checking the account balance and helping pack books, etc.

If he wanted to make a claim to that it would seem he waived that opportunity with his knowledge and approval.

Conversely, since they were involved and approving of his actions, any improper dealings would fall on them from a liability standpoint.

Just ran through some of the last couple pages .. and wow  what a disaster - and I agree with comix. however, is that likely the outcome? no. I'm just glad this is all out there before others got "played a fool" by this child (and/or father)

what a mess :boo:

Only 60 new posts? :P

I have strong doubts everyone has read each and every post in these 1258 pages before writing…

No. Before fantasy takes hold to an unpredictable degree, this is not right at all: he may have bought and sold a million books, but he obviously cared for the content.

As I stated in a previous post of mine he asked for advice on reading, and nicely accepted it and got involved in conversation about the stories and the characters (totally irrelevant issues if he was that teenage monster coming out of the picture…

And as long as you are not even sure he was him or his father posting on Facebook, most of the considerations are arbitrary to say the least…
